Moose is the eternal butt of jokes about his Jockey Club handle. He's anything but bold. He comes by his size honestly, out of mainly Irish lines, but Moose is a true gentle giant. However, he has a problem. He's completely paranoid. Moose is constantly looking over his shoulder as if something's stalking him, and spooking at absolutely nothing. He's been known to freak out about butterflies if they get to close to him. Moose is the entire reason that Shamrock no longer has barn cats - he completely flips out whenever he's around a cat and is probably more terrified of them than anything else. The people who take care of him have to learn to tread carefully and never, ever, shout, because he's been known to overreact to sudden movements and the like. Still, he's a gentle horse by nature and would never intentionally hurt someone - in fact he adores people who take it slow - but he might accidentally trample you in his fight to run away.

Racing Style:

Racing gives Moose a chance to do what he does best - run away. He's a front runner only because he's completely terrified of the other horses in the race and wants to get as far away from them as possible. Though he's big and a little gawky, he doesn't have the stamina to keep up the pace for long, and prefers shorter distances. He breaks quickly and his initial burst of speed is just about his only burst of speed - he sets a quick pace in the first two or three furlongs and then settles back. However, during that first margin he endeavors to pull away from the field as much as possible, and he does this quite well. Oftentimes he can get far enough ahead to keep the lead at least part of the race. However, he's a total scaredy cat and will usually back down from a challenge if one presents itself. He won't fight through the pack if he ends up there, and can usually only pull off anything if he's the leader.
